Synthetic Materials (SYNMAT) founded in
1995, is a general partnership between
International Materials, Incorporated (IMI) and
JRG Engineering, Incorporated. The primary
mission of SYNMAT is to develop sources of
synthetic gypsum into market ready commodities.
SYNMAT manages all phases of synthetic gypsum
production including the design, construction,
financing, operation and maintenance of the
synthetic gypsum processing facilities. SYNMAT
acquires synthetic gypsum in the form of a slurry
and processes this slurry to market
specifications. SYNMAT then sells and delivers
the processed synthetic gypsum to our customers
in gypsum wallboard and cement production as well
as agriculture.IMI is the largest privately held
seller of gypsum in the world, with 1999 annual
sales in excess of 2 million metric tons of
gypsum. Over 500,000 tons was marketed in the
United States in the gypsum board and cement
industries. IMI was founded in 1987 and currently
serves 36 cement plants and 8 gypsum board plants
around the world.
John Glasscock, of
JRG Engineering, has significant experience in
the production and utilization of synthetic
gypsum. John was previously employed by a major
U.S. gypsum board producer where he was involved
in several evaluations of synthetic gypsum,
including the specification and startup of a
system enabling 100% utilization of synthetic
gypsum in gypsum board production.
By combining the
resources of these two organizations, Synthetic
Materials is uniquely positioned to realize full
market potential for sources of synthetic gypsum.
